Group Function:

The group holds general meetups ~every other month. General meetups typically consist of a happy hour, updates from different teams, shout-outs from other organizations, and additional time for drinking, connecting, and discussing shared challenges.
Some members led focus groups that take on particular challenges around DER development. Each focus group has its own style, timeline, and operation. Please reach out to focus group leads with any questions.
- If you would like to start a focus group, come to a general meetups or reach out to us by email.
Resources, write-ups is saved on this Notion site, with some work occurring in focus group specific GitHub pages.
The group’s primary means of communication is email, with individual focus group determining their own communication style.

Inclusivity and Learning: Newcomers to Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are encouraged to participate and are expected to actively engage in the learning process.
Mentorship and Support: Experienced members are encouraged to guide others, fostering an environment of shared growth.
- To maintain focus on advanced topics, please develop and refer to internal resources available in our Notion database.
- Minimize the use of jargon; clearly define terms or provide links to definitions where additional context is needed.
- Be willing to put in time to ensure new members from across different backgrounds can understand and build on work
- Ensure that your contributions are clear and accessible, allowing others to understand and build upon them.
Chatham House Rules:
- Anyone who comes to a meeting is free to use information from the discussion, but do not attribute comments to a particular person
- Additionally, everyone is assumed to be speaking in their own personal capacity at all times unless explicitly stated
